Job Description:
SUMMARY: The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading
and managing aviation projects from conception to completion,
ensuring adherence to safety, regulatory, budgetary, and timeline
constraints. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional
teams, overseeing engineering designs, and providing technical
expertise to ensure project success. Design/manufacturing
experience with engine/APU/aircraft fuel systems and/or accessories
is an asset.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include, but
are not limited to:
- Lead and manage aviation projects by defining project scopes,
goals, and deliverables.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets while monitoring
progress and ensuring adherence to established timelines and
budgets.
- Establish and assure that periodic checks are made on all
inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment
used by the repair station. Further assures that a current record
of those inspections and tests is maintained.
- Responsible for planning and notifying affected repair station
departments of potential downtime caused by scheduled equipment
calibrations or repairs.
- Ensures internal projects are assigned to the appropriate
engineer to lead it, keeps track of said projects and maintains an
estimated completion schedule.
- Communicating the goals of the company to all engineers and
professionals in the team.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in aviation
engineering principles, including aircraft systems, avionics,
structures, propulsion, and materials.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation,
including progress reports, engineering changes, and certification
documents.
- Provide expert technical guidance and direction to project
teams and other stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and
customers.
- Resolve engineering challenges and make sound decisions to
address any issues that arise during the project.
- Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and
technical documents.
- Identify potential risks and challenges within projects and
develop mitigation strategies to address issues that may impact
project timelines, quality, or budget.
- Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders,
clients, vendors, and external partners to ensure alignment on
project objectives, progress updates, and addressing concerns or
inquiries.
- Supervising every phase of the project from start to
completion.
- Calculating costs, material, labor, and time required for each
project.
- Approving designs and budgets.
- Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with
external suppliers and vendors involved in cabin retrofit
projects.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure a clear
understanding of engineering specifications, design requirements,
and quality standards.
- Lead groups of engineers or technicians on projects if
needed.
- Write reports and present progress at project team
meetings.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the highest
standards of engineering practices and aviation safety are upheld
throughout the project lifecycle.
- Performing quality control checks on all systems and
products.
- Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 7 years of relevant/technical work experience and 6-7 years of
leadership experience.OR An additional 3 years of specific work
experience in lieu of degree.
- A sound understanding of engineering principles.
- The ability to maintain a positive attitude and restore morale
to a team.
- Strong understanding of aviation regulations, industry
standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving
skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel,
Outlook and scheduling applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and
manage multiple projects simultaneously.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in the relevant engineering field.
- 14+ years of experience working on a team in a senior
engineering role.
- Design/manufacturing experience with engine/APU/aircraft fuel
systems and/or accessories.
- The selected applicant will be subject to a background check
and drug testing.
